工业品企业营销战略的选择取决于企业规模和在行业中的地位。在市场领导者战略中，市场领导者在整个市场中占有最大的市场份额，在价格变化、新产品开发、销售渠道、分销渠道见着、促销战略等方面对行业内其他公司起着领导作用。作为市场的领导者，他们营销战略的核心就是保持其原有的领导地位。市场追随者战略是其余企业中市场份额较大的企业采用的战略，他们试图维持现有的市场份额，并不希望扰乱市场的局面。利基者战略则是那些小企业存在于那些大企业所不感兴趣的小细分市场。

企业营销战略的制定需要考虑多个因素，包括宏观环境分析、行业分析、公司能力描述、SWOT 分析、企业目标市场和目标客户分析、营销目标和策略、运用 4P(或 4C 等) 分析如何实现营销目标，如何布局、团队建设，人员发展与激励、困难风险提示等。在制定营销战略时，企业需要根据自身在市场中的定位来制定相应的策略。
